Fun to see how the Internet is creeping into daily life

And how you kind of grow dependent of it.
My connection died for some reason last Sunday, and I spent about 20 minutes tinkering with my network until I finally determined that the problem was not on my end (it helps to have various spare routers, switches, modems, splitters and miles of cabling kicking around in a crate somewhere). Unfortunately, XS4ALL wasn't a great help either; after navigating through their menu, the switchboard computer told me that they were too busy and disconnected me!
A couple of hours later, they replaced the regular menu with one that said that they're aware of the outage, and that users should just be patient while their technicians work on fixing it.

Well, obviously I have plenty of other things to do, so it wasn't too big of a problem. However, it is kind of creepy on how dependent one can be on something like a network connection.
I've been connected since 1993, and got one of my own in 1995, and since then the 'Net has grown into a source of information for all sorts of things.
It's kind of a problem when you have to look something up because of a problem, only to discover that the great on-line encyclopaedia is unreachable. :)

Could be worse, though...

Cheers, K.
