Padding about in Hakata

Posted on Saturday, August 22, 2009 4:33 PM
Because of a very late night yesterday and the shipment of our suitcases, I decided to take it easy and hang around in Hakata, resulting in a couple of very painful feet.

Didn't make many pictures; just some around Canal City:

The stands on the second picture are built up every day and torn down every night; you can get a great bowl of ramen, or BBQ'd meat for very reasonable prices.
It's quite fun to eat there.

Tomorrow, Michel and I take a very early Shinkansen to get to the Tokyo edition of a-nation. A train journey of around 6 hours and more than 1100km.

Cheers, K.

We should get stands like that here.
Did you buy a yukata?

Cailin: Hakata is Hakata, I guess... It's better than Nagoya, but not as bustling as Osaka or Tokyo. I've been in Hakata itself before. :)

Bokkie: I already own three yukata. :)
Didn't find the shop though, but I got something in Tokyo a few days ago.

@ Bokkie:
I have to agree with you about getting bars and stands like those. They often sell great food <3

Did I mention I once found a guy in an Osaka backstreet, selling takoyaki from the back of his moped? He really didn't have a stall/stand/anything, just a gas burner on the back of his moped :D
