Yamato museum

Today, Rob, Jean-Luc and I visited the Yamato Museum in Kure city.

At the time, the Yamato was the largest and heaviest battleship ever constructed, displacing 72,800 tonnes at full load, and armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 inch) main guns. It was quite interesting to see Kure's history (Kure was also the secundary target for the second atomic bomb in 1945; if the clouds hadn't opened up, Kure would have been levelled instead of Nagasaki) and the career of the Yamato.
Afterwards, we visited a small museum dedicated to submarines and mine sweepers.

A nice, easy day; for tomorrow, we will try to visit Hashima Island, otherwise known as Gunkanjima.

Cheers, K.
