Movie: Quantum of Solace

You know, I have to revise my earlier statement a bit about the latest installment of the character James Bond being an utter dork. I just saw Quantum of Solace, and let's just say that this is the first time since Tomorrow Never Dies that I thoroughly enjoyed a 007-movie. TWINE wasn't really something to e-mail home about, and Die Another Day was OK, but not really worth it to see again.

Don't get me wrong; Casino Royale still is a rather lame film in my book, not very entertaining and not fitting in with the rest of the franchise. However, with Quantum of Solace, the gloves are off and 007 is at it again. Not as over the top as he used to be, but that's OK. While there are a few scenes where the plot has holes big enough to drive a truck through and the scene with the fuel cells is right out, the overall feel of QoS is a good one.
Daniel Graig also seems to have grown more into the character, and he definitely lost his training wheels.

It's a pity no-one from Q-branch played any part in this film; I hope they let John Cleese return for the next installment.

Overall it's an enjoyable film for those who rather like the atmosphere of the pre-Graig era, and I hope there will be lots more.

Cheers, K.
