Today, my co-worker asked me whether I saw some of the technical details regarding the Eurovision Song Contest, which is currently running in Moscow. When I said I didn't, he told me about the rather spectacular modular stage with LED panels and all sorts of technical novelties.

So I googled for a bit, and stumbled upon this blog, describing the technical details behind this year's ESC.
I'm not into ESC itself (quite the opposite; I think it's a waste of resources and a ridiculous political game that's played to the hilt), but I have been a sound/lighting technician for 20 odd years, and rigs like these never fail to catch my interest.

The blog is well-written by one of the technicians working there, and it's hilarious. :)
One part of me wants to get back into lighting when I see things like this, another part of me remembers the odd hours, long days and nights and arrogant artists us techs have to put up with.

Waitaminute; my current line of work (IT) isn't that different... Oh well.

Cheers, K.
