Tonight, I decided to catch a movie. Since I have my own home theatre, I rarely do that anymore, especially since the things produced by Hollywood don't really tickle my fancy anymore.
However, I've been a fan of the Indiana Jones series since I saw the Raiders of the Lost Ark back in the eighties, which warrants a cinematic visit.

The movie is ok. Not the very best of the four (largely due to some elements they used in this installment), but it's Indy again.
A bit older this time, Dr. Jones picks a fight with the Russians this time.
The Germans are a mere shadow of what they were in The Last Crusade; the Cold War is in full effect in 1957 and fear for communists is soaring to a point where Indy even decides to leave the US due to its hostile anti-commie environment, and the fact that you'd just have to sneeze in the wrong direction for people to thing you're not patriotic enough.
Sounds familiar.

He is then contacted by a young fellow who claims to have news about a friend of his, who was chasing a Crystal Skull. He who possesses the skull and returns it to a certain tomb, will gain an ungodly amount of treasure.

I won't say what kind of treasure as it would spoil the movie, but it's not really what you'd think.

The setting seems authentic enough, save for a few anachronisms; the LED for instance, wasn't invented yet in 1957, yet we see a full LED display in the beginning of the movie.

In all, I liked the movie, and it will be a part of my collection at some point.

Cheers, K.
