Since my workplace is out of town, I travel a lot. Sometimes by train, sometimes by car, but I favour the trains due to their increased reliability and the very slim chance of delays due to traffic.
However, I drove to work today, and yet again, it was a mess.
Now, this rant doesn't entail the morning drive; that one goes by a simple rule; if you're late, you're going to be really late due to traffic jams.
No, this one is about tonight.
A big rig somehow drove off the road into a ditch at the end of the day, and obviously got stuck, causing a major traffic jam.
Now, I need to stress that the motorway was absolutely free of clutter and debris; nothing whatsoever, so every motorist passing by was able to use both lanes, and the only thing on the side of the road were rescue workers trying to figure out how to remove said big rig from aforementioned ditch.
Well now, how the hell could it be possible to build up a traffic jam then? You guessed it; people wanted to see what was going on out there, and despite the fact that it was pitch dark when I passed the point of the accident, I spent the previous 10 kilometres going just 15kph or so. Once we cleared the spot, everyone started putting the pedal to the metal like they are supposed to.
Idiots.
It would be nice if the government could figure out how to give those morons a ticket or something; it's quite annoying to spend over 40 minutes in a traffic jam, only to find out nothing's wrong with the road.
Cheers, K.
