Koya-san's Winter Wonderland

Japan has a couple of holy places; places where people go on a pilgrimage. In March, I visited one of them: Ise.
Today, I visited Koya-san, the headquarters of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism, located in an 800m-high valley amid the eight peaks of the mountain.

Japan's largest graveyard is also located there, and I must say it's pretty impressive to wander through.

I took a lot of pictures, but unfortunately a lot of them are overexposed due to the snow.
Snow? Yes, it's still winter over here, and while there's little to no snow at sea level, the mountains are quite white.

We spent about six hours there enjoying the scenery, despite it being a place of death.

Since walking can be hard on the feet, we decided to take a Limited Express back to Osaka, grabbed some Mapo Tofu at Namba and returned home just before 20:00.

We are going to take it easy tomorrow; I'm currently looking at the web site of Kinosaki Onsen.

Cheers, K.
