Hatsumode is the traditional first of the year visit to a temple, in order to get omamori (good luck charms) or to make wises for the new year.
We were just there for the temples, one of them harbouring a famous Zen rock garden.

Lots of pictures again today. I started shooting in RAW since yesterday, so that I can play with the pictures some more when I get home (I didn't bring the Canon software with me, unfortunately.



Tomorrow, we go to Koya-san; the epicentre of Buddhism in Japan, and thus one of the holy places.
