A while ago, a Dutch company invented a dawn-simulating alarm clock, called the
DayMaker, for the hefty sum of €85. Now, I thought it could be done cheaper and with some more style, and apparently, I wasn't the only one.
But, designing a circuit which could do the same in a reliable fashion wasn't that easy, and I didn't have the time to work something out.
Now, a few years later,
Philips comes with the
Wake-up Light.
A bit more stylish, but in its basic form just as expensive as the DayMaker, and you'll have to fork out an additional 40 euro or so to have a radio in it as well.
So the idea of making one by myself has sparked again, and this time I'll make it work, with a budget of about €40.
More on this later.
Cheers, K.
