My wristwatch died on me a couple of weeks ago; the battery finally went south and given that I had this one for over ten years, doing basically everything with it (including swimming, bathing and stuff), the insides turned out to be shot as well.
So now I'm looking for a new one, but damn, it's hard to find something fitting my tastes without spending several hundreds of Euros.
I stopped by at a jewellery shop this afternoon, only to find these big-ass watches which look kind of like having Big Ben strapped onto your wrist. I'm aware of the fact that those large watches are totally in fashion these days, but I'm not one for a watch which pretty much can double as a serving tray. "Here's your order, Ma'am. Oh, look at the time."
Anyway, since I never been one for analogue faceplates and do like extra functions such as a stopwatch, count down timer and world time, I have to look in the digital department.
Heading in the direction of Casio, I must say they're kind of "meh" these days. Not really innovative, standard fare bands and if you do want something fancy, your bank account will weep.
Lorus doesn't have anything new to offer, and frankly, I didn't like their designs back then either.
It's really hard to shop if you're someone like me, I'll tell you that.
If this keeps up, I'll probably end up buying one in Japan or something.
Cheers, K.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest :)

Try Ebay. Bought a Seiko titanium chronograph watch there for less than half what you pay in a jewelry store over here.
As for digital watches: just don't. I don't like oversized analogue watches either, but digital is just saying one has no sense of fashion whatsoever. ;->

Damn, you make it sound like a crime to have something digital attached to your wrist. ;)
No-sense-of-fashion is my middle name, though.
How 'bout something from both worlds then? I remember some watches with both an analogue faceplate as a digital readout, which looks fitting to me.

Ok, I won't call the fashion police then.. ;-)
Tissot T-touch watches are nice, but a bit expensive. I used to own Casio digital watches during high school (with build in phonebook and dialtone speaker and stuff like that). After that I had a Seiko kinetic for 11 years or so. Now I have this one..

No kinetic, but that's an overrated concept anyway as the rechargeable battery dies anyway after 5 years or so.
