Now that my house has been set up to my tastes (to some degree; I still have plans, but that will take a few thousand euro to complete, I fear), I started listening to music again in my living room.
I listen to music almost every day, but that's mostly in the car on the way to work, or on the mp3-player while commuting by train.
But I decided to free some time to just sit in the living, typing away on my laptop with some beverage of choice and have a CD or tape playing in the background.
Doing so, I kind of rediscovered some albums I haven't been listening to in years.
(I'm writing this while R.E.M.'s Out of Time is playing.)
It's kind of fun to play some tracks from the likes of Joe Jackson, Genesis, Neneh Cherry, R.E.M., Black, Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.), INXS, Björk, U2 and all those other great artists of (sometimes) decades ago.

Because over the years, I've come to appreciate the songs more. My English improved dramatically in the last 15 years, so I understand the more difficult tracks better compared to when I first heard them some 20 years ago. ;)
One of my favourites is the album Time, from E.L.O.. Especially track 10; Here is the News goes with some good memories from my childhood; the song gives a special feeling. Same goes for Joe Jackson's Steppin' Out; brilliant song.
I'm glad I didn't do away with my collection a few years ago; the joy of listening to those old songs once in a while is something I wouldn't want to miss, despite that my tastes have shifted to Japanese popmusic the last few years.
It's nice to listen to song whose lyrics can be understood right away, instead of a few seconds later or not at all. ;)
Cheers, K.
