A river in Egypt

One of my female siblings announced today that she is going to get some Botox-treatments, because she is convinced that a few wrinkles in her face are making her repulsive towards others. Personally, I think she is insane; injecting toxic stuff in a healthy body, purely for non-urgent cosmetic reasons (to get rid of a wrinkle that's basically part of your expression) is just stupid.

Despite negative response from both me and the parental units, she's still convinced that she needs to do it.

Right.

What's that famous big river in Egypt called again?

K.

I don't think Denial has anything to do with it. Although I just can't think of the proper term instead. I'm leaning more towards "fixation"...

Well, fixation is another word I would use here, but the post's title is aimed at the information we gave her that's also on that Wiki, but still she wants to go through with it and flat out denies it would affect her in the long run.

She told me the doctorwho is going to treat her, is also going to have a little talk to make sure he isn't fueling her insecurities.

Let's hope he refuses to treat her.

Ah, right. Now I get what you meant... And yeah, fixation can lead to denial... Or maybe "ignoring anything that's against the matter"... I've been there a few times, though luckily not about anything like surgery.

Good luck to your family!
