HP PhotoSmart camera's suck

Just a quick rant to do away with my frustration; today, I had to take a macro shot of some electrolytic capacitors, as some of our workstations suffer from bad capacitors. A capacitor is an electronic component, designed to temporarily store small amounts of energy. They are often used to stabilize flaky electric currents, and motherboards are usually riddled with them.

So I called our supplier to get something arranged, who asked me for some pictures.
Since I didn't carry my trusty Canon A75 today and my camera phone isn't very good at macro shots with bad lighting, I had to make do with the HP PhotoSmart at the office.

Damn, what a piece of crap that is.

Dear HP,

I kind of like it when my camera doesn't try to think for me. I don't want my camera telling me it can't focus and just don't do anything else; I just want it to try to focus and take the bloody picture, for crying out loud.

Thank you.

Now, I know; there's probably a hidden setting, deeply buried in the camera's menu, which switches all the smart crap off and let's me fuck up my picture the way I want it to, but I couldn't be bothered to read the fscking manual. Even if I had one, mind you.

So, lesson learned; always carry a decent camera with you. Always.

Cheers, K.
