Tonight, we have a go at some British humour:
Hot Fuzz.
A mixture of comedy and action with a bit of crime and mystery added. And I have mixed feelings about it.
Hot Fuzz tells the story of a young police
man officer, who is sent away by his jealous colleagues to the dull village of Sandford, because he is a bit of a gogetter. But apparently, nothing is what it seems, as there are an awful lot of accidents happening around Sandford.
I don't know whether I love this film or hate it.
It made me laugh on more than one occasion, but is awfully predictable at the same time. The fact that almost every inhabitant of Sandford has a last name resembling a crime or a criminal (and for those who don't, resemble what they do for a living) doesn't help either.
The camerawork and editing is tiresome. It's like a videoclip, and while funny at some moments, just totally inappropriate. The film's predictability also had me having the remote at hand after a while, just to skip forward to the more interesting bits.
But Hot Fuzz also has some great moments; especially our seasoned London cop adjusting to the country life, or rather, failing miserably. The way some of the crimes are comitted are brilliant, and Simon Pegg is the man for the job.
It's just a shame Timothy Dalton apparently coudn't be bothered to put a little more zest into his acting.
I'm not disencouraging you to watch this; not at all. It's not a waste of time like the remake of
Gone in 60 seconds was. But be prepared for a wild ride.
Cheers, K.
