Dual Boot Windows/Ubuntu

Posted on Monday, July 16, 2007 10:10 PM
Since I'm switching to my new laptop and have been thinking for a while to install Ubuntu on my old one, I decided to go dual boot on the new one, so I re-partitioned the hard drive and I'm currently in the process of downloading the Ubuntu Live CD to my desktop.

Tomorrow I'll burn the ISO and install it on a separate partition... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers, K.

Whoops! I just remembered: Linux needs at least -two- partitions. One for the file system and one for swap space.

Looks like you'll be re-parting again. Or you'll need to use Partition Magic or something to split the Linux part into two.

I already used PM to shrink the Windows partition, and I still have 20G of unpartitioned space left on the hard disk (meant for data), so I should be fine. ;)
