For those who think they have found a safe USB flash memory stick in the
SecuStick, think again.
The guys over at
Tweakers.net got their hands on a few of them, and managed to
hack it in just 30 minutes.
As a result, the stick has been pulled from the market, and the company is revising their buggy design.
Remember kids; a false sense of security is worse than no security at all.

We flew with Austrian Airlines on the last Japan-trip, and I'm less than happy about their performance.
In fact, the only thing I'm really happy with, is their ability to arrive ahead of schedule; all flights managed to take off on time and land 10 to 40 minutes early. The ground crew performed great as well (especially those at Narita, but I expect nothing less from Japanese staff), however, I'm rather miffed about the flights.
The flight to Vienna was served by Lauda Air; no real problems there. The flight from Vienna to Tokyo went reasonably well, due to the fact that we managed to get ourselves an Emergency Exit-seat, but from what I heard, the regular seats were kind of crampt.
Which is something we experienced first-hand on the way back; the seats were just tight (no, I don't have that much of a lardy arse, thankyouverymuch) without much room to leave your arms anywhere, nor your legs, for that matter.
I couldn't leave my left arm out a little either, since the aisle between rows was just wide enough to let a cart through, so if you're letting your elbow hang out, the crew will bump into you. Which they did, and on numerous occasions.
Another thing about the crew; on the flight back, we sat in a plane full of Japanese people. The crew in our part of the plane was European (save for one stewardess), and was hardly capable of speaking any Japanese. In fact; one other stewardess only spoke German and a little English, and she was the one who asked the Japanese people behind us what they wanted for dinner!
Rather blunt, if you ask me.
The Personal Entertainment System (PES) most airlines have, was pretty much non-existent on the flight to Tokyo; one monitor for a group of people, which have no choice other than to watch it or sleep through it if you're able. Fortunately, they showed a few decent movies.
On the way back, we did have a PES, but the image was crap, the games were s-l-o-w (like molasses in a freezer; luckily, I brought a DS) and the movies weren't really spectacular.
While that last point is something which depends on personal taste, the first two are just sloppy.
The food wasn't something to write home about either. On the way to Tokyo, it was decent. Not brilliant, but edible (although some of my friends on this trip might see it differently).
However, on the way back, we got just the same food as before, and this time it tasted like it really was the same food as before, but kept warm over the weeks; it was overcooked, dry and just not worth eating, so I was glad the second meal turned out to be mozarella cheese with tomatoes and pesto, which was quite edible. ;)
Summary; if I have a choice, I won't be flying Austrian again anytime soon.
Cheers, K.
