I used to be a DJ. This sounds like I'm whining about the good ol' days, but hey, it's the truth.
Started out in 1987, with an amplifier and two cassette recorders, playing my music in private and at small parties. I kept it small; that's what I like to do; if you make a mistake, less people are pissed at you. ;)
Had a radio programme for a while as well; KajRadio ran well in the heydays of Internet radio, back when you could broadcast a show without being restricted by various power- and moneyhungry associations.
But eventually, I quit the station due to lack of time and some technical trouble, and the only DJ-ing I did from then on, was again at small parties and privately.
Now, when I moved last year, I had to pack my DJ-kit as well, and while I did muck around in my living room sometimes, I didn't have much time to keep playing.
A few days ago, I finally reconnected my kit again; setting it up in my living room and see whether I still got the rhythm going or not:

I won't bore you with some homebrew yet; damn, am I rusty! @_@
But eventually, I got the feel for it again, so I'm going to try and tinker now and then. :)
I can't exactly describe the feeling of a well-made mix playing back, but it sure feels good.
Cheers, K.
