I bought a cheap second-hand Laserdisc player yesterday at the recycleshop. No remote, as-is and a little buggy, according to the sticker on the device. I brought it home and had a quick look at it this evening; the player started up as it's supposed to be, so I popped in a disc and it plays!
It's a Pioneer CLD-2700, an auto-reverse LD/CD-player. It only supports PAL unfortunately, and I own several NTSC-Laserdiscs, so in case I succeed in getting the thing fixed (I think the circuit that decodes the video and puts it on the output connector might be a bit dodgy, as there is something weird going on in the image), I'll probably sell it again or something, as I still have my CLD-950 to play with.
I shot a few pictures of the beast; you can find them in the galleries, under
Stuff.
Anyway; fun stuff to tinker with.
Cheers, K.
