New alarm clock

I don't know about you, but I like to wake up to some good music. It's so much nicer to being pulled away from your slumber with a piece of music you chose, instead of that awful "Breebreebree" most electric alarmclocks make.
I was looking into a new alarm, since I don't really like the current morning DJ's; but forking out €60 for a clock that has all the right buttons AND the capability of CD-playback is a bit much, and an alarm playing mp3-files still has to make its way to the stores.

When I visited the local recyclingshop at the end of the day, I spotted something funny; one of those midi-sets that were the fad at the end of the eighties and the beginning of the nineties.
Bulky, about 40cm wide and propriety flatcable connections to connect a record player or tuner. Normally I'd stay away from those as far as I can, but this one had something that might be the answer to my problem: a tuner with a timer!
"So, what's the difference with a regular stereo on a timer, switching the power on at the desired moment?" I hear you say. The difference is that this tuner interfaces with the rest of the set, so I can also make it play CD's and cassettes, if I wish to, have it set to a certain volume on timer powerup (so I can listen to music or watch a DVD at night on a low level and have the set kick in at a higher level in the morning), and all that for just €14,50. ;)

Cheers, K.
