NTT DoCoMo has acquired a 35 percent stake in US-based mobile video company PacketVideo for USD 45.5 million. Via this acquisition, DoCoMo plans to strengthen its position on the Japanese advanced music and video services market. The DoCoMo-PacketVideo partnership initially started in 1998, enabling PacketVideo's technologies to be incorporated in multimedia applications for DoCoMo's Foma 3G mobile network services. PacketVideo's Core multimedia player pvPlayer is currently integrated in over 90 DoCoMo handset models.
