Starting a new blog at Geekswithblogs.net .... I might stop using this one.

Well. I face a bit of a dilemma.

I have been given a blog at Geekswithblogs.net , just like I had hoped for.

The readership of that blog is very technical, and my posts should fit right in, and will be better appreciated.

But should I now abandon this blog?

Right now my favorite blogging tool, Blogjet, does not support posting to multiple blogs, and having to double post everything is gonna be a lot of work.
Also, the xs4all blog has the nice Luxlight skin, and is of course already filled with links and stuff.

But the readership of Geekswithblogs is right up my ally.

So I think I might leave this blog alone for now, and start using my Geekswithblogs blog as my primairy blog.

Once Blogjet start supporting multiple blogs, or I find a way to automaticly cross-post.. then this blog might be updated again.

I Felt the new laptop should not only stand out by its external looks, so I have at long last delved into the world of Windows themes and visual styling.

One of the most popular skinning programs seems to be WindowsBinds, and I have been trying out some skins and backgrounds I found at DeviantArt.

Today I was suppose to have a talk with client for a position there. However, it turns out that the our account manager did not know for sure wether the client was oke with my creds or not. So I have turned up at the office.. in my suit en 'ties suck' tie. Only to find the account manager is on the other side of the country, and doesn't know anything for sure yet.

Great.

I am now waiting for a phone call from him, to tell me its either on for today, or its not. I would of course rather have stayed at home, as my laptop is being delivered today. Need to pay an aditional 431 euro's at the door for this thing.. expensive shit. Left the money in an envelope so Skrie can pay for it. Skrie still ows be the rent I saw, as after getting 500 euro out of the bank, I am broke. Grr...

I'll tell you all about the laptop when I have played with it a bit.

Oh by the way, did I mention I hate managers?

Oh.. an interesting turn. Probably no talk today. To my suprise this account manager had organised a lease car for me. Great.. if not for the fact that I dont have a driving license. “Go get your driving license!” He called down the line. People often tell me this, unaware that the costs associated with such an action would basicly break my financial back, on account of my salary being less than what most cleaners make.

America's Army - Special Forces - Home Page

After a 2 year absence, I seem to be getting back into America's Army, the official US DoD sanctioned US army first-person-shooter game, running on the Unreal Engine.

One thing that immediatly strikes me, is the relative complexity of the game when compared to other FPS'.. there is a lot more going on here, for instance the honor system and ROE points. Thankfully the game manual is file quite complete, I will be reading.

Did I mention that this game is completely free? ;)

Ik krijg de indruk dat er toch best wel wat mensen zijn die de hoofdpagina in de gaten houden. Ikzelf heb ook de rss van de hoofdpagina in me Sharpreader.

Bij mij is gevoel van community belangrijk, en het is leuk om te zien hoe leden van deze community op elkaars posts reageren, terwijl ik denk dat de meeste van ons een blog hebben, die in de eerste instantie voor online vrienden bedoelt is, en daarna pas de rest van de wereld.

Persoonlijk hoop ik altijd dat willekeurige vreemden wel eens een post van mij lezen, puur omdat ik dat een leuk idee vind, dat mensen zich misschien interesseren voor wat mij overkomt.

Aan de andere kant zijn de meeste van mijn posts nogal gespecialseerd rondom IT. Ik heb er dan ook aan gedacht om mijn blog te verhuizen naar een community die daar iets meer in is gericht, zoals geekswithblogs.net, maar de gemiddelde post is van dusdanig hoogstaand niveau, dat ik denk dat ik wat amatuerisch zou overkomen. Haalt niet weg dat ik misschien toch liever in een blog community zit waar meer IT-ers aanwezig zijn, die ook meer hebben aan mijn posts.

Daarnaast ben ik, gezien internationale vriendenkring, genoodzaakt om in het Engels te posten, en hoewel ik niet de enige ben, vind ik het toch altijd een beetje vreemd eruit zien in deze echte Nederlandsche community.

Well the last two days have been really interesting (!)

Today I helped a person make a network mapping to a share.
I was so stressed out by this mind-numbing excersize in intelligence that I actually got my domain slashes mixed up for the credentials.. lol. With this kind of work, I revert back to n00bness, I mean, how can one not?

Then I helped a person visit a web-site which he called surfing the web, hihihihi! Now that was really interesting! I will have to get into that internet thing soon, I think perhaps I am falling behind!

Then I got into very complicated deep-end heavy-duty networking infrastructure architecture when I actually made a share myself, and then assigned it rights. ooOOOoooOO!! \o/

Then I went and impressed the director, and replaced his printer cartridge! Wow!

I cant wait when tomorrow I will actually be allowed to crawl on the floor, under desks, and mess about with cables! Oh Joy!

This weekend was rather unproductive, as most of my weekends are.

Had dinner at the neighbours last night, she had really outdone herzelf with a great Spinage macaroni and Carpaccio as starter, but unfortunatly the Carpaccio contained something that my stomache didn't agree with. This caused me to miss out on the main meal, much to my regret.

Just to expand on that; I get this wierd and severe allergic reaction to something in that meal, I suspect either the salad or the pinetree things in it.. This time I even got nausies and I always come out in this terrible rash of bumbs. Any strong anti-allergin, in this case Claratin, stops it though. I've had this reaction a few times now.. very annoying. I've even had it from eating too many Pringels, which really makes me wonder what substance in particular is causing the problems!

Slept out this morning till about 14:00 and watched Buffy the rest of the day, at 5th episode of season 4 right now.
What gonna go whatch the MTV movie awards with neighbour, but forgot, and she is telling me off over MSN right now . Anyway, the award that are being held this weekend are not shown live over here, but will be shown on Thuesday.

In other news, I ran across Wikipedia again while browsing, and decided to make a few articles.
Now if you dont know what it is, first you need to know what Wiki is.
Here is a copy-paste from Wikipedia's own definition of Wiki:

A Wiki (pronounced "wicky" or "weeky") is a website (or other hypertext document collection) that allows any user to add content, as on an Internet forum, but also allows that content to be edited by others.

The term can also refer to the collaborative software used to create such a website.

Wiki (with a capital 'W') and WikiWikiWeb are sometimes used to refer to the Portland Pattern Repository, the first ever wiki. So anyway, I decided to make 2 arcticles about subjects that where inportant to me somehow, and that I figured deserved an article on this massive database. I made an article about Veerle Casteleyn, and about the Clan of the Dead Goat Gunshop. However, to my suprise, the article on the Gunshop was almost immediatly marked for deletion, and what followed was a discussion about this. I tried to pull in the support of the Gunshop community, but I recieved very little responce , so the article will now be deleted. Oh well, it was a nice experiment. The Veerle page seems to be still up though. I encoured Steven to add to it, and he has, but it still needs to be expanded. I might edit it in the future if I feel like it.

Anyway. Tommorow I start on a new job for 2 weeks, replacing someone who is on holiday. Its gonna be primairily support work, which I hate, but as its only for two weeks I dont mind. But like I said in the previous post, I hate my study being unterrupted again like this. There is a bus strait there from Zoetermeer, zo I will be spending more time at my mothers this week I guess.

Oke.. enough for now. Gonna go play some more Doom 3. I'll try to post tomorrow about the job. Laterz.

Getting into the Rhythm.. and tripping out again

The last few days have been quite productive for me.

On the whole I have done quite a bit of study. I am not exactly where I wanted to be with my study, but this is not due to a lack of work on my part, I can at least say, but more an underestimation of how much work remained to be done on DNS and DHCP specificly.

Yesterday I had a talk with my personel manager, it was basicly to keep her up to speed on what I was up to. She asked me, as one does, when I was thinking about doing exam in 70-291, and I told her that if I had another week of pure study time, like I have had this week, I could start thinking about planning the exam in the next month or so. She was happy to hear this of course.

It may therefore, come as no large suprise, that after I went home, at 17:30, I recieved a call from my work (I had no idea anyone there worked that long), asking me to report for work at an intermediate party for one of their customers, at 11:00 tomorrow.

So... just when I think I am getting back into the studying Rhythm, I get pulled back out. And this for 2 weeks of what she described as "Helpdesk and light sysadmin work".

She added that they "had read my CV and where quite enthousiastic". No bloody wonder they where enthousiastic! My CV spells System Administrator, not Helpdesk slave.

To top it off, they have a Windows NT4 network, which is really fucking great when you are over your ears into Windows Server 2003, and trying to remember everything about that for your exam! On top of that, its 2 fucking hours travel, just to get there.

There are no expletives adequate enough to express my frustration.

Oh yes, then I ran into my friendly eastern-European neighbours, who expressed an unhealthy interest in my mobile phone while we where standing in the dirty elevator.

I dont care about stupid quizes.
