Official Google Blog: Rumor of the day
Dig for this on the web
Wow.
Not only is this google’s awnser to http://www.craigslist.org/ , but it looks to be much much more.
Since the very first days of the web, people have always strugled to find places to put all their stuff online. Its only the more technicly savvy, or well-connected that seem to be able to host their stuff online, and with good bandwidth.
Google could change all that. Upload anything (within the limits of legality and the EULA I assume), and share it with anyone. No need to worry about bandwidth, and diskspace is becoming cheaper all the time… ( our gmail boxes are 2.5gb and growing monthly).
That movie you made with your digital camera, that music you composed just for the heck of it, that database of Butterfly spiecies you compiled… anything and everything now becomes sharable.
The GoogleGrid is here, or at least.. much much closer!
