We hadden een beetje genoeg van het jaarlijkse winterritje naar een bestemming in de buurt. Daarom gaan we deze keer iets verder. Naar een andere planeet. Om precies te zijn: naar de ijsplaneet Hoth.

Hoth is het decor van The Empire Strikes Back, de vijfde (kan ook de derde of zestiende zijn) film uit de Starwars-saga. De scenes van de Battle of Hoth zijn opgenomen op de Hardangervidda in de Noorwegen. En daar gaan we dus naartoe. Wanneer? Over precies vier uur. Vorige week was het er nog -20, nu is het wat milder. De wegen zouden zijn bedekt met sneeuw en ijs.

We maken de reis met twee space invaders: een Piagio MP3 en een Gilera Fuoco. Deze driewielige motorscooters met sneeuwbandjes zouden zonder op te vallen een scene in Starwars kunnen binnenrijden. Anderzijds lijken we ook wat op twee AOW'ers op vakantie.

De komende dagen zullen we proberen we berichtjes te sturen over het verloop van de tocht. Kan best zijn dat we Oslo amper uitkomen. Sterker nog, mijn maat lag vanmorgen al op zijn snufferd, hier vlak voor de deur. Want op natte klinders wil het nog niet zo met de sneeuwbandjes. Verder bestond de voorbereiding uit het volgooien van de tank en het vergeten te verlengen van een paspoort. Zelden zo sterk het gevoel gehad dat we in de problemen komen.
