After a couple of weeks with a replacement Nokia I'm glad to have my P800 back. It cost about EUR 100 to get it fixed, but that involved replacing some parts and now it's got the latest software as well. I could have bought a Treo or something, but I haven't even used half of the possebilities of the P800. For playing with video I've had the hardware around for years, but only now I've found out I can use my Hauppauge WinTV/PCI to do this:
mencoder -tv driver=v4l:width=352:height=288:adevice=/dev/dsp tv:// -ovc lavc -oac pcm norm=pal -o example.avi
And then do this:
ffmpeg -i example.avi -acodec amr_nb -ar 8000 -ac 1 -ab 32 -vcodec h263 -s qcif -r 15 example.3gp
And then transfer it to the P800 and watch a captured tv show on the P800. It's not perfect, but it's fun.
