Time to bring some life to this blog.

Progress on the new version is not going as fast as I was hoping, so I've decided to postpone the new architecture to Lithium and backport as many features as possible to the old architecture for Helium as possible. Also, this will allow me to take more time for some good rethinking of the internals of molsKetch.

I hope to have an alpha version of Helium on-line in a few weeks, so stay tuned for more info on which features are going to make it and which are not.

i just tried chemsketch --> wonderfull app!! thank you very much!

but i have one question: i study biochemistry, therefor i have lots of molecules with high numbers of atoms. and many molecules with very similar parts (like sugars, aminoacids, etc.). other programms support large libs with "ready to use" molecules. in molsketch you also provide a very small lib.. but would it be possible to extend this lib with libs from other software packages?

i really like molsketch, becaus it can do exactly what i need and is very handy. but i just don't have time to build up such a lib of molecules on my own ;)

The library of molsKetch is very small indeed, but rather simple to extend. The program simply loads all files in the library directory. As long as the other software packages use a format supported by OpenBabel, it should be as simple as copying the files to the molsKetch library folder.

Some plans for the far future include some kind of online library and more support for organizing, sorting and searching in the library.
