IFFR 2005 - "Spicebush"

 2005 Edition

“Spicebush“

An interesting movie/documentary about everything concerning labour; work as an activity that impacts people's lives. A visual treat that doesn't let itself get pidgeon-holed in any category. There's no real narritive, although there are stories happening as just happenings. A cute little girl has a central role in quite a few of the chapters being shown. But there are also just short skits about fossils and butterflies. What did I get to see? A story about a school ordering office furniture and the labour activities of the different parties concerned. And in between or just surrounding it, you get the butterflies, the girl and just little studies about visuals. There wasn't a large audience and some people left early, and I'm kinda curious why. But I was also curious why I stayed. The visuals were really rich: shot in video, mixed with still photography and many other forms of healthy eye-candy.
So? My conclusion: something different with a side dish of possibly being intriguing.
