The Maastoren in Course of Construction (Kop van Zuid, Rotterdam)

The Maastoren (Maas Tower) of architectural offices Dam & Partners in collaboration with Odile Decq Benoit Cornette in course of construction. When completed the Maas Tower will be 165 meter or over 540 feet in height and as such be the summit of Rotterdam’s South Bank Development. In the front among other things: the old Santos warehouse on Katendrecht and the Wilhelminatoren (Wilhelmina Tower) and the Erasmus metro line (Erasmuslijn). Photo shot from the Maashaven Oostzijde. Vijf Werelddelen and the Colonnade under the Entrepotgebouw (Kop van Zuid, Rotterdam)

Vijf Werelddelen (Five Continents) is a quay along the Entrepothaven, once a harbour bassin, dug in the nineteenth century on the initiative of the famous Rotterdam businessman and politician Lodewijk Pincoffs. Nowadays the Entrepothaven is in use as a marina (City Marina Rotterdam). The Entrepotgebouw was originally used as a warehouse to store tea, coffee, sugar and spices. Today it's a shopping mall and an apartment complex. It also contains several restaurants. Visible on the horizon: the Maastoren (Meuse Tower) in course of construction.
