Poseidon and Neptunus, two residential towers, designed by architectural office DKV (Dolf Dobbelaar, Herman de Kovel en Paul de Vroom), 59.75 meters in height, completed in 2003 and located on the westside of the Katendrecht peninsula. Visible on the left: the Hoboken tower of architects A. Hagoort, G. Martens and J. Prouvé, which is part of the medical faculty of the Erasmus University (Erasmus MC). The Maashaven, Katendrecht and the Euromast (Sunset) (Feijenoord, Rotterdam)

In the front: the Maashaven harbour basin, once an important grain harbour, nowadays primarily a parking lot for riverboats. Katendrecht is a former Rotterdam harbour district near the city of Rotterdam, on the South bank of the river Nieuwe Maas. It once constituted Rotterdam's red-light district and also the first Chinatown in Europe. On the horizon: the slender Euromast tower of architect H.A. Maaskant. Directly left of the Euromast: animal feed factory Provimi. On the right of it, behind the two cranes: the Vopak tower of architect Jan Hoogstad, located north of the river Maas and currently being redeveloped. The Laankwartier is one of the five new neighbourhoods, currently in course of construction, on the booming Rotterdam peninsula of Katendrecht, a former harbour district near the city of Rotterdam on the South bank of the river Nieuwe Maas. Katendrecht once harboured the first Chinatown in Europe. In the front: the Maashaven harbour basin. On the horizon: left the two residential towers of architctural office DKV (Dolf Dobbelaar, Herman de Kovel en Paul de Vroom) and on the right, among other things, the cranes of the newly built Lloyd Kwartier residential area. Sunset Glow on the Latenstein Flour Factory / Codrico Cube / Codrico Kubus and the Rijnhaven. The Latenstein flour factory (Meelfabriek) was designed by architect J.J.M. Animal feed factory Provimi Illuminated by Roope Siiroinen, a lighting designer from Tampere, Finland. This design of Siiroinen is part of a workshop, organized by the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association, PLDA (formerly known as ELDA+, the European Lighting Designers' Association). The Provimi factory is located in Katendrecht, an old (almost former) harbour district of Rotterdam. In the front: the entrance of the Rijnhaven harbour basin. The Latenstein flour factory (Meelfabriek) of architect J.J.M. Vegter with the green Codrico Cube (Codrico Kubus) as characteristic feature on top of it. Note the moon: when I was shooting this photo I only saw the crescent. Afterwards I was astonished to see that my camera had captured the whole moon. Behind the factory: Francine Houben's Montevideo and the World Port Center of Norman Foster. As part of the festivities of Rotterdam 2007 - City of Architecture the 'M' on the roof of the Montevideo has been illuminated with purple spotlights. Photo shot last night.
