The Maastoren in Course of Construction (Kop van Zuid, Rotterdam)

The Maastoren (Maas Tower) of architectural offices Dam & Partners in collaboration with Odile Decq Benoit Cornette in course of construction. When completed the Maas Tower will be 165 meter or over 540 feet in height and as such be the summit of Rotterdam’s South Bank Development. In the front among other things: the old Santos warehouse on Katendrecht and the Wilhelminatoren (Wilhelmina Tower) and the Erasmus metro line (Erasmuslijn). Photo shot from the Maashaven Oostzijde. Sunset over the Maasboulevard (Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands)

Vijf Werelddelen (Five Continents) is a quay along the Entrepothaven, once a harbour bassin, dug in the nineteenth century on the initiative of the famous Rotterdam businessman and politician Lodewijk Pincoffs. Nowadays the Entrepothaven is in use as a marina (City Marina Rotterdam). The Entrepotgebouw was originally used as a warehouse to store tea, coffee, sugar and spices. Today it's a shopping mall and an apartment complex. It also contains several restaurants. Visible on the horizon: the Maastoren (Meuse Tower) in course of construction. DKV's Poseidon and Neptunus Towers (Katendrecht, Feijenoord, Rotterdam)

Poseidon and Neptunus, two residential towers, designed by architectural office DKV (Dolf Dobbelaar, Herman de Kovel en Paul de Vroom), 59.75 meters in height, completed in 2003 and located on the westside of the Katendrecht peninsula. Visible on the left: the Hoboken tower of architects A. Hagoort, G. Martens and J. Prouvé, which is part of the medical faculty of the Erasmus University (Erasmus MC). Laankwartier in Course of Construction (Katendrecht, Feijenoord, Rotterdam)

In the front: the Maashaven harbour basin, once an important grain harbour, nowadays primarily a parking lot for riverboats. Katendrecht is a former Rotterdam harbour district near the city of Rotterdam, on the South bank of the river Nieuwe Maas. It once constituted Rotterdam's red-light district and also the first Chinatown in Europe. On the horizon: the slender Euromast tower of architect H.A. Maaskant. Directly left of the Euromast: animal feed factory Provimi. On the right of it, behind the two cranes: the Vopak tower of architect Jan Hoogstad, located north of the river Maas and currently being redeveloped.
