On June 2005 I was sent to Turkey for work.
I did not know what to expect, I had a lot of differnt feedback.
So I decided to spend a week end in Istanbul and find out by myself.
I found a world that is a perfect blend between Europe and Asia with a touch of Middlw East.
Istanbul is a city with about 15 milion people living in it.
A city where you can feel the history of the imperialtime.
Where ever you go, you have historcal momuments and Mosque.
Mainly Muslim city, it mixes with Christians and all side by side.

The people are nice and friendly. The food exceptional and nice.
As all soutern countries, they will open the doors for you.
The city is divided between old and modern; you can find the industrial area with tall buildings as well as the historical area wher you find old construtions of the Empire.
If you want to eat good fish, go to the Taxim area (excuses for the spelling), you will have 10s of restaurants where you will be welcome and you will have exellent food.
Istanbul has a lot of terraces on top of buildings that will give you an estonishing view.
Most of them you have to know where they are; thir enterence look like a building enterence and you would not go in it since you think its for people living in it.
But on top are bars and clubs in open air with a lot of nice people... yes, some are also only private... look for the right ones!!
